What you give us
Your answers to the seven questions, your first name and email, anything you add later (follow-up answers, corrections and files), and your payment. Card details go straight to Stripe, our payment provider. We never see or keep your card number.
What we read from public sources
To build your report we read your website, and we look your business up on Google: your listing, where you appear in a local search, your rating and the reviews Google shows, and the same public details for businesses near you, including their own websites. We respect each site’s instructions for automated readers (robots.txt).
Google review text is read while your report is written and then dropped. We keep a short summary in our own words, never the reviews. Google names, ratings and reviews you see in your report are fetched from Google when you open it, shown with credit to Google and the reviewer, and not stored by us. We keep Google’s place IDs, which Google allows, so we can fetch them again.
What customers say about your trade in general comes from public sources we’re allowed to use, counted across many businesses. It’s about the trade, never about you, and it’s labeled that way.
The front-door test
Only if you ask for it. We keep the time of the first reply to our inquiry, and whether our call was answered, how long it rang and what picked up. We don’t keep the reply’s words, and we never record, listen to or transcribe a call.
How we use it
To build your report, deliver it to your account, send you the emails about it, and improve how reports are made. Your report is written with help from AI (Anthropic’s Claude), which processes your answers and the public information above on our behalf. We read reports before they’re published. We don’t sell your information, share it for advertising, or use it to train anyone’s AI models.
Who processes it for us
Vercel (hosting), Supabase (database, sign-in and files), Stripe (payments), Resend (email), Anthropic (writing the report), Google (Places and page speed) and Twilio (the front-door call, only if you ask for it). Each handles only what it needs to do its job.
How long we keep it
While your account is open, so your reports stay there for you. Answers from people who stop partway are deleted after 12 months. Ask us to delete your account and we’ll remove your information within 30 days, except what we must keep for tax and accounting, like receipts.
Your choices
Ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it: write to matt@eightpx.com. You can stop the follow-up emails at any time by replying “stop”. California residents have these rights under the CCPA, and we honor them for everyone.
Cookies
Only the ones the site needs: one that keeps you signed in, one that lets this browser open the first look it just made, and one that remembers your answers as you go. No advertising or tracking cookies.
